Why visit Nice?

A trip to Nice means enjoying the sun and the beaches. You can stroll under a comforting blue sky, with your eyes fixed on the sea and your feet directed towards unforgettable places of charm.

Touring Nice is far from being the same thing as visiting villages on the côte d'azur. As you explore Nice, you'll discover a city that combines tradition and modernity. You'll pass through streets filled with art deco, neo-classical, Nice-style, baroque and contemporary buildings.

A successful visit is all about enjoying the panoramic views over the old town of Nice, the bay of Villefranche and Cap Ferrat. Next, don't miss Cimiez, with its olive groves and beautiful gardens. Extend your visit to the largest Russian church outside Russia, Nice's Cathedral of Saint Nicholas. Finally, make the most of the old town and the castle hill to relax.

Visiting Nice also means explore the Côte d'Azur for its culinary specialities. You can sample socca, courgette flower fritters, the famous Niçoise salad and daube niçoise, as well as pissaladière, in a variety of well-known restaurants and small family-run eateries. For your information, you can also try socca at Cannes if you've thought about booking a ticket for a culinary tour.

After sampling some of Nice's best menus, you'll love strolling along the Promenade des Anglais to admire the beach and perhaps laze on one of the prom's blue deckchairs.

From the start to the finish, between short stops and photo opportunities, you'll discover Nice and its best features.

Take advantage of the Panorama to admire Nice, the bay of Villefranche and Cap Ferrat

It's an opportunity to take some great photos to immortalise your trip to this side of the French Riviera. In the Mont Boron park, you'll have a breathtaking view of Nice, the bay of Villefranche and Cap Ferrat. It's the best vantage point from which to admire the distinctive architecture of old Nice, see the boats nestling in the hollow of Saint Jean Cap Ferrat and admire the magnificent bay of Villefranche from afar.

The panorama gives you an idea of the size of the area and the beauty of its historic buildings. It's an important meeting point, where you can catch up with your guide and find out all you need to know about the rest of the programme.

Visit Cimiez so you don't miss out on any of Nice's charm

A trip to Nice without a visit to the Cimiez hill is an incomplete trip! Your guide will show you around this tourist attraction, where you'll discover museums, beautiful gardens including the garden of the Cimiez monastery, the Arena and Roman ruins.

A visit to Cimiez takes a relatively long time, as the district is packed with must-see places and squares. The monastery in Place du Pape Jean Paul II is one of the must-see places in this district. The monastery is bordered by one of the oldest gardens in Nice. In the past, the garden was the Franciscans' kitchen garden. Today, it's home to flowers, a beautiful lawn and fruit trees. It's a colourful, tranquil garden of Italian inspiration.

The ruins are also one of the things to see in Cimiez. The Roman columns of Cimiez are incomparably beautiful and will take you on a journey back in time.

Take a tour of Saint-Nicolas Cathedral

With its Old Russian style, this Orthodox cathedral is one of the largest buildings in Nice. Its unusual architecture makes it a real curiosity in the region. In fact, it was the first Orthodox church in Western Europe. Its typically Russian architecture, with its glazed-tile bulbs, is simply magnificent.

If the outside of the church is fascinating, the inside is even more impressive. You'll find rich decorative paintings, bronze, gold and beautiful sculptures.
